What if all spacecraft didn’t exist?

You have probably heard of spacecraft and that’s not easy to make. So, what if all the spacecraft didn’t exist?

The job of a spacecraft

Spacecraft do a lot of things that you likely take it for granted if you can look at this page. That is because if there were no satellites, your internet and telecommunications would be slower in some areas. But although they don’t need satellites anymore as they mostly rely on optical fiber, they still play a massive role in your life.

Thanks for satellites, you can access your GPS, google maps and weather reports. GPS and other similar systems use continuous signals to help the device figure out its location by at least 4 satellites like eyes. We must also have things in space to observe the weather, providing the report and potentially saving lives.

Most of the knowledge you have about space is from spacecraft. They see many things in their missions. For example, Mars orbiters help you learn about the red planet, Earth orbiters (satellites) give information about our planet and our actions for the environment. Some probes like Kepler even tell you about things light years away!

So, what if all spacecraft didn’t exist?

What you know as the ISS, Perseverance Rover, and a lot more are all spacecraft. Without a medium for experiment to improve life on Earth, our life would look distinctly different from what you now witness. According to NASA, we could not use computer mouses, athletic shoes, and even phone cameras without spacecraft.

Moreover, the economy would plummet as there are fewer sources to improve it. You see, the investments for probes, its exploration and even its daily uses significantly impact our economy. Furthermore, there would be more deaths with natural disasters such as hurricanes due to the inability to report the storm and warn the citizens.

Also, at that point, any exploration would only be science fiction. There would be less advanced technology. These cutting-edge stuffs can also be used in our lives, constantly changing the way we live and the economy. We would have less ability to find dangerous things like asteroids and solar storms without probes.

Despite all these disadvantages, there’s also a benefit. For the environment. Since rocket fuels spew exhaust that might cause pollution. They also create Space Debris if they’re not handled properly, causing the space around Earth to be very dirty.

But after all, the pollution of spacecraft can be dealt with. It is still a fairly bad thing to have no robots in space. So, be grateful they exist and the mission teams persevere!
